I thought it would be fun to share things on this blog from time to time that aren’t food related. Cause I do have a life besides baking, cooking and doing lots of dishes 😉 So if you are interested I have a new tab at the top: LIFE in AZ! If you are here just for the recipes, thats great too! Just skip over these “life” posts and I will keep the recipes coming 🙂
To start off I wanted to share pictures of my new son Connor’s Room.
I was really wanting to get his room done but was not feeling any inspiration. Classy Clutter posted this round up of boy nursery ideas and this one really jumped out at me! So I just ran with it. Turns out it is a nursery of a couple that live in a neighboring city! These colors must be attractive to us desert folk 😉
Here is the picture of the room I just loved:
And here is my “budget” version:
I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on his room because they grow up so fast and I will probably move him over to his brothers room once he’s a little older and let my daughter have her own room (since she is the only girl).
Connor wore the same outfit his dad wore when he was blessed at church. I have it hanging above his changing table.
Here he is at 7 weeks old in the sweet outfit! He is 12 weeks old now. It’s going by way too fast!
The room was pink because it was my daughters room at the time so I painted it with Benjamin Moore / Color: Edgecomb Gray. I LOVE this color. It is the perfect warm gray color and goes with just about anything.
I talked to my sister and showed her the inspiration picture and she sent me this file she drew! Isn’t it great! My kids & husband love dogs and would love to get one but for now, we will have this cute border collie in Connor’s room. Once they are a little older and can help with all that goes in to having a dog, I think I will be ready to get one.
I got the C from Michaels and just spray painted the wood green. The cute little bear in the crib (not Connor) although he is a cute little bear cub too, is from my Grandma’s home.
The I’ll Eat You Up I Love You So print I ordered from Etsy and just printed it myself. The book shelf is actually a spice rack from Ikea I stained with a dark wood stain. I’m sure most of you have seen this “hack” before.
The I Am a Child of God print was in this room when it was my daughters and I love it so I decided to keep it in here for now. I ordered it from Etsy as well. I made the pillow cover and the cute fox is from anthropologie. My best friend gifted it to me when I had Connor.
I loved the “Read to Me” letters in the inspiration room and still would love to make some & hang above the chair but I just haven’t gotten to it yet!
The curtains are just white drapes from Ikea. I found the navy stripes at a local fabric store called SAS. It has been around forever and has some really great stuff for super cheap. I got the green fabric for the crib skirt there too for 3.99 a yard! After I had purchased the curtains and ribbon for the drapes, I saw that Ikea actually sold curtains with blue stripes just like this. They didn’t have them at my local Ikea and I couldn’t order them online so it turned out okay. Plus I like the texture the navy stripes give the room. It was really easy to sew them on because the drapes had little lines all the way down so I could just follow them to get them straight! My sweet mom helped me with it too!
The lamp was in another room & I just spray painted the shade yellow. It looks darker in this picture than it really is. The dresser is from my dad’s furniture store – Furniture Plus. It was a cream color but a solid, nice looking dresser so I painted it white with chalk paint I had leftover from another project.
The changing pad cover I bought off Etsy because I can sew a straight line but elastic etc. for a cover just sounded like way too much work. Plus I loved this fabric! It was the perfect color. I also got a thick plastic type fabric from Hobby Lobby and cut it to fit on top of the changing pad cover so I wouldn’t have to wash it all the time! It has been so handy. The green basket is great little laundry basket. My mom sewed the liner for the basket to hold diapers and the navy boxes are from wal-mart. The white trash can has worked really well. I just purchased a bunch of diaper trash bags from the dollar store (you get 75 for a $1) and then empty the can when it’s full. I like it much better than a diaper genie.
My sister in law gave me this adorable blanket for Christmas and I just love it. I have always loved houndstooth. Such a classic print. It’s from Target of course 🙂
The chair I had purchased off Craigslist when I had my daughter for $75 and I didn’t want to have to buy a new chair cause this one works great so I measured it and decided to buy the slip cover from Ikea. I doesn’t fit perfect but good enough. I like that I can take it off and wash it cause, it’s white!
The pom-pom fringe on the crib skirt is from my Grandma’s sewing stash! She was an amazing seamstress.
It was fun sharing this room with you today! Check back Friday for another recipe!

I love your budget version, it's definitely less busy, which I think would be better for a baby. the pops of green are so fresh. enjoy!
