Affiliate links are used in this post. I only recommend services/products I use and love.

When I first started my blog I was on the platform, Blogger. Mostly because it was free and it was what I was familiar with. If I could go back, I would listen to everyone else on this and just start with wordpress. The problem was, I thought it would cost too much and I didn’t know how to do it. If you are interested in starting a blog, especially a food blog I highly recommend the following. Even if it’s just for a hobby. It doesn’t cost much and is SO much better. Totally worth it!

BLOG THEME– I use the Foodie Pro Theme. There are lots of different themes out there but I absolutely love Foodie Pro. It is exactly what you need for a food blog. Clean & simple. I highly recommend the Foodie Pro theme if you are a food blogger or what to start one!

StudioPress Theme of the Month

DESIGN: I used Key Lime Digital Design for my site design, Angela Hardison for my banner/logo and The Blog Help moved my site over from Blogger (because it was worth every penny to not go crazy trying to figure it out by myself). All were great to work with and very helpful. It made the switch for me exciting and not stressful.

CAMERA: These are pretty basic but have worked well for me. A good camera is an investment but well worth it.

I use the Cannon Rebal t2i. (I have linked to the newer model t3i, the t2i is not made anymore.)

I shoot almost always with the “nifty fifty” lens. Inexpensive and works great! I would love to upgrade to a macro lens someday 🙂

EDITING: I edit all my pictures in Lightroom and then I use PicMonkey to add text & make a collage image with text for pinterest when I decide to do that. I have the royale account because there are lots of pretty fonts and it’s only like $33 for the whole year (or $5 a month). Plus you can try it out for a month free of charge and decide if it’s worth it for you.

FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY:  I learned so much about food photography from this book.

Affiliate Companies: Currently I am signed up with ShareASale (StudioPress) & Amazon (various products I use and love!)

And last I want to share some links to blog posts from some great food bloggers that I have found very helpful in hopes that you will too!
