Caramel Apple Sheet Cake
A moist sheet cake filled with apples and topped with a caramel glaze! The glaze melts into the cake making this cake a show stopper. Everyone will love this!
Why does everyone love a sheet cake? I mean, whats not love. They feed a crowd and are always delicious. I have to admit though, Texas sheet cake is not my favorite. Don’t hate me! I just much prefer brownies.
But this apple cake! Its amazing. The perfect end of September, fall is finally here, treat. I used gala apples but Granny Smith would be great too.
So are you team apple or team pumpkin. I am team BOTH! haha
How to make apple sheet cake:
- Heat your oven to 400 degrees. Spray a baking sheet (12×17) with cooking spray and set aside. Peel and chop up your apples, set aside.
- In your stand mixer or a large bowl, mix the flour, soda, salt, sugars & cinnamon.
- In a medium sauce pan, bring your butter and water to a boil over medium heat. Pour that mixture into the dry ingredients and mix on low for 2 minutes.
- Add the buttermilk, eggs and vanilla. Mix until combined.
- Fold in the apples.
- Pour the batter onto the baking sheet and spread out evenly.
- Bake for 17-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While it’s baking, make the caramel glaze.
- Place the butter and milk in a large glass measuring cup. Heat int he microwave until melted. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla, caramel sauce and salt and whisk it all together.
- Pour the glaze over the cake while it is still warm. Eat it while it’s warm, or wait till it cools, if you can. Either way, you are gonna love it!
My daughter is in 1st grade and she just had Johnny Appleseed Day. She dressed up and brought her favorite apple to school. But I accidentally said Johnny Seed Apple Day and now we can’t seem to say it right. Go ahead, try it. Are you all confused now? haha.
