INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 cup butter (salted)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup nutella or hazelnut spread (divided)
  • 2 cups flour (10 ounces)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 Tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)
  • flaky sea salt (for tops of cookies)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.

  2. In a stand mixer or large bowl, cream together the butter and sugars. Add the egg and egg yolk and mix. Give the Nutella a good stir then measure out 1/4 cup. Add the Nutella and vanilla and mix till combined. Scrape the sides as needed.

  3. In another bowl, measure the flour. Add the cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Mix together then add to the wet ingredients & mix. Add the chocolate chips (I used milk chocolate) & add the other 1/4 cup of Nutella and mix just until combined and a few streaks remain.

  4. Scopp the dough with a medium sized cookie scoop. Roll into a ball and place on baking sheets. Sprinkle with the sea salt. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. When done, let cool on baking sheet. Add more chocolate chips to the top if desired. If any of the cookies spread around the edges, use a small spatula to push in around the edges to make nice circles. I do this whenever I make cookies :)
