Serves: 24 sliders

A great appetizer or easy dinner. Also a wonderful way to use up leftover ham.
Ingredients
  • 24 rolls (sweet hawaiian rolls are best)
  • 24 slices swiss cheese (cut to fit the roll size)
  • 24 slices of ham (can do half a piece per roll, depends on size of ham slice)
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1½ Tablespoons mustard (yellow or dijon)
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon onion flakes (or minced onion)
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet (13x18") with foil. Spray the foil with cooking spray. (If making half the recipe, a 9x13" pan can be used)
  2. Slice your rolls in half and place on the foil lined cookie sheet.
  3. Melt your butter in the microwave or over the stove. Add the mustard, worcestershire sauce, onion flakes and poppy seeds. Stir till combined
  4. Using a pastry brush or knife, spread a little of the butter mixture inside the roll (you don't have to do this but I like a little inside).
  5. Add a pieces of ham and slice of swiss cheese (cut to fit the size of roll) and place replace top of the roll.
  6. Either pour or brush the rest of the mixture over all the rolls.
  7. Cover with foil sprayed with cooking spray.
  8. Baked covered for 15 minutes, remove foil and bake for 10-15 minutes longer or until cheese is melted and tops are a light golden brown & warmed through.
Notes
-You can use regular yellow mustard or dijon mustard if you like that flavor best.
-Lots of recipes call for a T. of poppy seeds, I feel 2 teaspoons is plenty but feel free to add more.
-I usually use onion flakes, but fresh onions work too, just dice really small and cook with the butter when you melt it.
-If you don't use the sweet hawaiian rolls you may want to add a T. of brown sugar to add the sweet factor to the rolls.
- For the cheese I take a regular sandwich slice and cut in fourths and use 2 small squares for each slider. Depending on the thickness and size of the ham, I usually add a whole pieces of thin ham folded to fit the roll. If using leftover ham, just cut to fit the roll.
